Ecolodge
Naturally cool: zero air-conditioning
We chose not to air-condition any room. Comfort comes from the architecture and the wind: wooden louvres, open terraces, suites facing the trade wind, and an earth-air tunnel that tempers fresh air before it comes in.
The result: cool nights, renewed air, no compressor noise and no refrigerant gas. Together with our 100% home-made cooking, it is what makes Wegokite a low-carbon pousada.
How it works
The earth-air tunnel, a breathing loop under the garden
A few metres under the sand, soil temperature varies far less than air temperature. Fresh air runs through that ground before it is supplied to the suites.
- Air intake in the shade of the garden.
- Buried ducts: air travels underground and is tempered by the soil.
- Supply of tempered, renewed air to the suites.
- Natural exhaust through the louvres, carried by the breeze.
Zero air-con
Earth-air tunnel, louvres and sea breeze instead.
Our own spring
The property has a natural spring, protected and used sparingly.
100% home-made
From breakfast bread to evening desserts, everything is made here.
Wind-powered
Kite, wing, sailing: our main activities run on wind alone.
A living garden
Coconut palms and coastal plants over 4,000 m², down to the beach.
