The location

Feet in the sand, on a kitesurf spot

The Wegokite pousada sits on 4,000 m² of beachfront garden in Taíba. Between the suites and the ocean there is only a lawn planted with coconut palms: step out of your room and you are on the sand.

Here you rig your kite on the grass. You launch from the garden, ride in front of the terrace and land in the same spot before lunch. Few pousadas in Ceará offer direct access like this, and it is why kiters come back every season.

Taíba is still a fishing village between dunes and lagoons, an hour's drive from Fortaleza. Everything is explained in getting to Taíba from Fortaleza.

Waves in front, lagoon nearby

Wind from July to January

East–north-east trade wind, often 18 to 32 knots in high season. Wind month by month.

Comfort

Cool suites, no air-conditioning

No room has air-conditioning, and you still sleep cool. Fresh air first travels under the garden through an earth-air tunnel: the soil tempers it before it enters the suites. Wooden louvres and the trade wind do the rest.

All eight suites, for 1 to 4 guests, have a sea or garden terrace, a hammock, a hot shower and home-made breakfast. See the 8 suites, photos and rates, or how the earth-air tunnel works.
